5-day immersive TY programme exploring STEM, manufacturing and future careers
The Ideas Made Real Programme: Transition Year(TY) Work Experience is a five-day immersive experience that introduces TY students to advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, and modern workplace practices.
The programme is designed to broaden students’ understanding of industry, build transferable skills, and reduce uncertainty around future career pathways by connecting learning directly with real-world applications.
What to Expect
Over five days, students participate in a structured programme combining expert-led learning and team-based project work.
Morning sessions delivered by five industry experts across 5 key themes:
- Robotics
- Additive Manufacturing
- Sustainable Manufacturing
- Extended Reality (XR)
- Human Resources and Career development.
Afternoon sessions focused on collaborative challenge work and presentation development
Continuous reflection and skills development throughout the week Final group presentations, evaluation, and certification.

Ideas Made Real: Transition Year Work Experience

Emma is the Ideas Made Real Programme Coordinator at Irish Manufacturing Research, responsible for the design, delivery, and coordination of Ideas Made Real Transition Year Programme, overseeing engagement with schools, industry partners, and IMR experts.
