FactoryXChange 2.0 Joins TechIreland for the National AI Challenge 2026 as Official Regional Hub Partner

The National AI Challenge is back for its third year, and its biggest one yet. Delivered by TechIreland and backed by Enterprise Ireland, the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) Network and a strong line-up of ecosystem partners, 2026's edition will bring together over 400 developers, students, founders and AI professionals from across Ireland.
We're proud to say FactoryXChange (FXC 2.0), together with Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR), is on board as an official Regional Hub Partner.
Running from 28th August to 14th September, participants will team up to design, build and test practical AI-powered solutions and agentic workflows that tackle real enterprise and societal challenges. It all builds to a nationwide showcase on Monday, 14th September, with in-person demo events happening simultaneously across more than 10 regional hubs - including ours, right here in Mullingar.
Why this challenge matters for Irish manufacturing and tech
AI is no longer a talking point for the boardroom whiteboard. It's showing up on factory floors and across business units as something businesses actually need to get right. The National AI Challenge backs a people-centred, responsible approach to AI adoption, a process that proves what practical tools can do for the bottom line.
Bringing scaling companies, researchers and developers together within a state-backed framework is exactly what we're here for. It lines up neatly with what FactoryXChange 2.0 set out to do from day one: take the risk and friction out of digital transformation for Irish manufacturing SMEs.
