This service supports an innovative company or organisation to investigate the development of a proof-of-concept (PoC) for a new or improved product, process, or technical service. This technology service is aimed at establishing the scope of work for a collaborative innovation project through initial investigation, background research, desk-based research, industry case-study analysis and/or definition of research or technology innovation. The research work will support business transformation through the application of Advanced Digital Technologies, such as aspects of; artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or high performance computing, thus ensuring the wider use of digital technologies across the economy and society. The advancement of innovation in digital tools, cyber-physical systems, IoT and PLC/SCADA systems provides easier access to all types of industrial data. The integration of this data with edge computing and cloud analytics has been shown to provide valuable insights and decision-making opportunities. The research work may also address relevant aspects of ‘Green Transformation’ and the adoption of sustainable and human-centric approaches in enterprise. The service will include analysis of the potential benefits likely to be realised by the partner organisation, for example in terms of; efficiency/cost saving, new product, new customer, competitive advantage, etc. and the identification of the next steps and future work.
