FXC Reference Number: EIMR62010 Our Transition Year Programme is an immersive journey designed to ignite passion and curiosity in advanced manufacturing and STEM fields among transition year students. Developed by industry experts and educators, this programme seamlessly integrates classroom learning with real-world applications, preparing students for the digital age and beyond. The service consists of 6 elements which aim to encourage young people to consider careers and interests in the world of Advanced Manufacturing and STEAM: • Launch Event: Kickstart your students journey with a dynamic launch event, fostering connections between schools, industry partners, and community members. • Teacher Training: Empower educators with specialized training and resources to seamlessly integrate the programme into curriculum effectively. • Lesson Plans and Teacher Guides: Comprehensive resources to support in-class learning, ensuring seamless integration of digital skills into teaching methodologies. • Company Visit: Your students will gain first-hand insights into modern manufacturing processes with visits to local company facilities. • FIT Skills Day: Explore potential career pathways through FIT’s hands-on activities and industry exercises. • Advanced Manufacturing Challenge: Your students will work in small groups to create a solution to a problem that they have identified using advanced manufacturing technology, including the 3D printer provided. Students also receive guidance from our expert researchers. The challenge culminates in an end-of-year showcase to industry professionals with an awards celebration highlighting their achievements and contributions to the field. What your Students will take away: • Enhanced digital skills: Students will develop proficiency in 3D printing and other advanced manufacturing technologies. • Real-world experience: Students will gain insight into industry practices and applications through company visits and project support. • Career readiness: Students acquire essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. • Networking opportunities: Schools will build connections with industry. • Schools engaging will receive a toolkit for use throughout the programme.
