Service Description
FXC Reference Number: EIMR77887 Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) will open its doors for a half-day experience throughout the academic school year, inviting secondary school students to experience IMR on the inside. Teachers will have the opportunity to book an AM or PM slot where 40 of their students can step inside a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for a 2-hour slot. Students will gain experience in advanced manufacturing and Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through a guided tour of the facility, an opportunity to meet the researchers and a fun and innovative activity to encourage young people to consider opportunities within the industry. This educational journey will aim to bridge the gap between industry needs and school curriculum, infusing excitement into advanced manufacturing and STEM. The service consists of 3 elements which aim to encourage the students to consider careers and interests in the world of Advanced Manufacturing and STEM: • Your students will receive a guided and interactive tour of the Irish Manufacturing Research facility in Mullingar, where students will get to explore cutting-edge technology falling under the areas of Design for Manufacturing, Digitisation, Robotics and Automation, and Sustainability. • Your students will seize the opportunity to engage directly with industry researchers. They will gain hands-on experience and a first-hand glimpse into the exciting roles that await them in this industry. • Your students will ignite inspiration with an interactive STEM-based activity led by our Ideas Made Real team. What you takeaway: Gain insight into various roles and opportunities available, while also engaging in a guided journey into the future of careers, providing a roadmap to exciting possibilities. Your students will gain knowledge, igniting their passion and potentially setting them on a path towards a career in advanced manufacturing.
